SOCIETY and ART in the Context of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

CONCEPT

We are planning the launch of a temporary space as an experimental, production, and exhibition venue that critically engages with the topic of Artificial Intelligence. The space is intended to be an open place where people from various fields and disciplines can meet to exchange ideas about Artificial Intelligence, experiment together, and develop creative projects. The space will also serve as an exhibition area to present the outcomes of the projects and reach a broad audience.

MOTIVATION

Our motivation for this project emerged from numerous conversations with various individuals and the desire to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on humanity and art. The topic is of high relevance as it will significantly influence the future of our society and art. Some AI researchers believe that AI technology will have a greater impact on the world than the industrial revolution. The debate ranges from questions of eternal life to the annihilation of humanity. We really need to engage with this issue.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

Several informational events, workshops, and exhibitions are planned:

UPDATE
The UPDATE takes place at least once a month. Here, the latest developments in the field of AI are presented, followed by an open discussion.

EXPERIMENT-AI
The EXPERIMENT-AI workshop also takes place at least once a month, where the presented programs and tools can be tried out to create playful objects or installations.

DEEPTALK
At DEEPTALK, at least once during the project period, a leading AI researcher is invited to give a lecture and delve into the depths of the subject matter.

KI.KU.GRU
KI.KU.GRU is the most continuous workshop and is scheduled to take place 48 times. Here, small groups are introduced to the world of AI in a practical way and, together with the AI, develop generated installations. At least one of the art installations will subsequently be built from wood by the team. The shared experience of craftsmanship is the focus here and is chosen as a countermeasure to the already discernible societal tendencies towards isolation. This tendency may be further intensified by AI programs in the future.

AUS:STELLUNGEN
The works created in the EXPERIMENT-AI and KI.KU.GRU workshops feed a constantly growing exhibition that is made accessible to the public four times a year. Visitors to the exhibition may potentially become workshop participants.
The AUS:STELLUNGEN focuses on the possible future role of Artificial Intelligence in society using the example of contemporary art. It raises the question of whether it can be seen as a demanding source of inspiration or a long-term demotivating creative force.

GOALS

The project aims to discuss the role of Artificial Intelligence in art and society and create awareness of its impact on humanity. Through exchange, experiments, production, and exhibitions, we want to bring together ideas and works from various individuals and make the topic accessible to a wide audience.
